by Wendy Gill with songs by David Schreurs and Vincent Degiorgio
BML Librettist Wendy Gill's musical That Man is a story about love, lust, loyalty and deceit set in London's iconic Flamingo night club in 1957.
The show features the hit songs of award-winning recording artist Caro Emerald, written by the acclaimed writing team of David Schreurs and Vincent Degiorgio.
That Man was given a rehearsed reading at the prestigious Player-Playwrights workshop (the first musical book to be accepted for such a reading) in 2013, and shortly after it was selected by director and writing mentor Paul Boyd for further development. A staged concert was mounted in 2014 at London Theatre Workshop, and a further staging in 2016 at London's Hippodrome Casino starring Eastenders' Jonny Labey and a cast of West End performers accompanied by a full band.
Caro Emerald's record label and publishers Grandmono have now fully endorsed the project, and songwriters Schreurs and Degiorgio have come on board to work with Wendy and Paul on the latest draft of the show. New production details are expected to be announced soon.
