The workshop The facilitator Applying/contact The latest updates
 Applying / contact

Dates for the 2012 Workshops are currently under consideration, but we plan sessions for all workshops to begin by the end of March. Applications will probably be accepted between 1 January and 15 February, 2012, although these dates are provisional. Please refer to the ‘Updates’ section of this website early in January for more information.

Applying: Librettists Workshop

The workshop will accept 6-12 new members to the group. Please submit a CV and 2 scenes of up to 10 pages each in length, one of which should be comedic. (This is not to mean you have to be ‘funny’, but it helps to get a feel of the room.) Interviews may follow.

Applying: Composer/ Lyricist Workshop

The workshop will accept between 20 and 30 members. You may apply as a composer, as a lyricist or as a composer/ lyricist.

Please submit a CV and 2-3 contrasting songs (ballad, comedy, up-tempo, etc), with some indication of their dramatic context. If you are applying as a potential lyricist, you may submit lyrics only.

All applicants will be expected to audition for the facilitators.

Fees

Each successful candidate will be expected to commit to the entire year’s programme. The fee structure is under consideration, but will probably be £150 per 15 week term, with concessions available for those who are in financial need.

Other information and criteria

Any writer from around the country who can fund his or her own transportation is welcome to apply.

Disabled writers are also welcome. We are meeting in a fully accessible facility, although, at this point, we do not have the funding to guarantee signers or support workers. We are, however, attempting to raise additional funds for this, so please feel free to apply.

The First Year Composer/ Lyricist Workshop will provisionally be held on Mondays from 3:30 until 5:30. The Librettists Workshop will provisionally follow from 6 until 8. The Second Year Composer/ lyricist Workshop will provisionally be held on Tuesdays from 6 until 8.

Location for 2012 is to be announced.
